While I've had quite a different journey and may disagree on certain points, I'm glad you've found a spiritual home! And very glad that since the calendars match up this year, all Christians will be celebrating our Lord's resurrection together tonight and tomorrow!
Thanks Heather. A fascinating read. Have a look at Tim Stanley's comment piece ('There was one upside to Covid...') in today's (21st April) Telegraph. A very similar theme. The evidence seems to be glaringly obvious - that, as TS says, searching people do not end up in theologically and liturgically 'liberal' churches which simply echo the political fashions of the day. They already get lots of that through the media and their social networks, and more of the same holds absolutely no attraction. They know that sheer transcendence, and the daunting call to costly and authentic faith are where it's at.
It's a fascinating movement, isn't it - even more so feeling that I am part of it! One of the most interesting things will be to observe the response of more liberal churches - I predict pushback. But it seems to be a move of God and so I trust that He has got it all in hand. I absolutely agree re the costly and authentic faith - taking the gospels very seriously is the way forward, I believe. God bless
I am sure you are right about pushback. For such people being 'on the right side of history' is all that matters, and that is the measure against which all their actions and positions are calibrated - so they know no other way. It's bleak, but undeniable. But it is not in God's nature to abandon that to which he has committed himself - creation itself. So we walk with him in his way, even through discomfort and ridicule, knowing that He will bring to completion his ultimate purposes.
Thanks for this Heather, very interesting. I think there is a lot of historical anti-Catholic ignorance as to what is actually believed and why certain practices exist, and I’m glad you feel you have found your spiritual home. I’m delighted to see the Spirit moving and as I commented on Abigail Austin’s ‘stack, I hope that we can learn the lessons of the past and all move forward together in a generous orthodoxy, rather than recruiting seekers into interdenominational battles! “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
On Easter morning I was up on the Chevin with Methodists, Anglicans, FIEC independents, United Reformed and more and we were addressed by our local Catholic priest, wonderful.
Hi Tom! I don't intend to get into any battles, and most definitely not online! There are plenty of people busy doing that :) In any case, I don't have the authority to decide the limits of pluralism and heresy. I've noted that even some Mormons who seem devoted to Christ, so who am I to judge - it's all in His hands. The only thing I'd do is encourage all Christians to engage with Catholic saints through the ages as I think a historic understanding of the faith is important - and they've really inspired me. God bless
President John Quincy Adams: “Masonry ought forever to be abolished. It is wrong - essentially wrong - a seed of evil, which can never produce any good.”

Amen! :)
I so appreciate your honesty. These are questions we all need to ponder. Thank you.
Thanks Anna 🙏
